New Glarus Softball Wins Against Lodi

In the weeks prior to the Lodi game, the Lady Knights sold t-shirts to benefit Gio's Garden, a therapeutic respite center for children ages birth through six years old with special needs. On May 16th, the Knights softball team traveled to Wisconsin Dells, where they lost a heartbreaker, 9-8.
By the end of the third inning, New Glarus was leading, 4-1. Wisconsin Dells scored two runs in the fourth, and New Glarus answered back with two of their own in the fifth. Wisconsin Dells sent five players across home plate in the bottom of the sixth, pulling ahead of New Glarus by two. In the seventh inning, the Knights scored two runs to tie it up, but the Dells scored one at the bottom of the seventh, winning.
Jessica Van Dusen and Riley Parker shared the mound for the Knights. Parker struck out one.
Grace Moen had three hits and two RBIs. Lydia Sprecher had two hits. Noelle Austin had one RBI.
The next afternoon, May 17th, New Glarus hosted Wisconsin Heights, losing 11-0.
Jessica Van Dusen and Riley Parker pitched for the Knights, both striking out one.
Maya Kramer had one hit. Lydia Sprecher and Riley Parker were both walked once.
The Knights traveled to Cambridge on May 19th, losing 12-10.
New Glarus was leading 5-0 at the top of the third, but Cambridge tied it up in the bottom of the third. Cambridge pulled ahead by one in the fourth, but New Glarus scored five runs in the fifth and sixth inning to make it 10-6 in their favor. In the bottom of the sixth, Cambridge scored six runs to take the lead and win the game.
Riley Parker and Jessica Van Dusen pitched for the Knights. They both struck out two.
Ashley Judd went 2-5, had one RBI and scored two runs. Maya Kramer and Noelle Austin went 1-4, scoring two runs apiece. Jessica Van Dusen went 1-3, with one RBI and scoring two runs. Kelly Fredrickson and Lydia Sprecher both scored one run each.
On May 20th, New Glarus traveled to Lodi and won, 9-8.
Lodi pulled ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the first, and New Glarus answered back with a run in the second. By the end of the fifth inning, New Glarus was leading 5-3. At the top of the seventh, the Knights scored four runs, and Lodi tried to make it a tie game in the bottom of the inning, but fell short by one run.
Pitching for the Knights were Jessica Van Dusen and Riley Parker. Van Dusen struck out three.
Maya Kramer and Kelly Fredrickson both went 3-4 at bat for the Knights. Fredrickson had three RBIs. Kramer had two RBIs and two runs scored. Jessica Van Dusen was 3-2, with one RBI and two runs scored. Lydia Sprecher and Grace Moen were both 1-4, with Moen scoring one run and Sprecher scoring two. Ashley Judd was 2-4 at bat, with three RBIs. Judd also scored one run. Noelle Austin scored the remaining run.
New Glarus played at Waterloo twice this week, on Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday's game is a regional contest.
