Darlene L. Yaun

Darlene Luella Yaun, age 89 of Columbus, and former New Glarus area resident, passed away on April 19, 2016, at the Larson House in Columbus. She was born on August 8, 1926, to her parents, Tony and Hilda (Becker) Yager.

Darlene graduated from New Glarus High School in 1944. On February 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arnold Yaun. Darlene was a farm wife and also worked as a waitress for many years at the Swiss Lanes. She was an avid euchre player and enjoyed completing word searches.

Darlene is survived by her children, Donna (Ron) Paulson, Shirley Wachholz, Rick (Bev) Yaun, and Cathy Baxter; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Killian; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold Yaun; sister, Gladys Meister; and a brother, Delmar Yager.

A funeral service was held at 5:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI, with Chaplain Susan Greenler officiating. Burial is in Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison.

A visitation followed the funeral service until 8:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Heartland Hospice and the Larson House for their kind and compassionate care of Darlene.

A memorial fund has been established.
