New Glarus Bike Rodeo

Helping children in our community

What is it: A rodeo is a bicycle skills event which provides an opportunity for young bicyclists to practice and develop skills that will help them to become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes.

Every year for five years now, the New Glarus Police Department and New Glarus Chamber have hosted this event in early May. This year's event is May 14th, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Along with teaching bike safety, we give away 50 bike helmets, a free t-shirt to each participant and volunteer, goodie bag filled with coupons, coloring books, stickers and etc. Everyone who attends, including parents and siblings, enjoys a free lunch.

We also have a bouncy house and petting zoo! The biggest attraction for the event every year is the drawing for a chance to win one of the 12 bikes we give away. The bikes are generously donated by local businesses. Children K-4th grade can sign up to win.
