Way Places First in Pole Vault
The Sugar River Track team traveled to Platteville on March 29th for the Pioneer High School Meet.
For the boys, Nickolas Schult, Mark Truttmann and Hayden Askey all participated in the preliminaries for the 55-Meter Dash, but didn’t make it into the finals.
In the boys 200-Meter Dash, Nickolas Schult finished in 26.44, Milo Hoesly finished in 28.03, Taylor Funseth finished in 29.69 and Hayden Askey finished in 30.40.
Sugar River had two runners in the boys 400-Meter Dash. Caden O’Rourke finished with 1:01.88 and Milo Hoesly finished with 1:02.27.
Evan Reifert and Levi Dearth both ran in the boys 800-Meter run. Reifert finished with a time of 2:25.77 and Dearth finished with a time of 3:01.19.
Levi Dearth also ran in the boys 1600-Meter Run and finished with a time of 6:32.80. Teammate Gary Salmela finished with a time of 5:58.82 in the event.
Caden O’Rourke finished seventh in the 3200-Meter Run with a time of 12:07.70.
Cole Myers finished second in the boys 55-Meter Hurdles event, with 8.64.
The relay team of Mark Truttmann, Hayden Askey, Nick Meier and Drew Pickett participated in the 4x200-Meter Relay and placed 10th, with a time of 1:56.21.
In the boys 4x400-Meter Relay, the team of Drew Pickett, Nick Meier, Jacob Shrader and Cole Myers finished sixth, with a time of 4:11.66.
The boys 4x800-Meter Relay saw the team of Josh Bowers, Gary Salmela, Evan Reifert and Conner Theis placing sixth, with a time of 10:17.33.
In the boys Long Jump event, Jacob Shrader finished with 14-08.00. Taylor Funseth finished with 14-01.00 and Mark Truttmann finished with 13-07.50.
Drew Pickett placed ninth in the boys Triple Jump event, with 33-11.00. Teammate Taylor Funseth finished with 30.07.00.
Sugar River had four boys participate in the Shot Put event. Tony O’Connor came in eighth, with 37-00.00. Ben Bartow finished with 33-03.00, Danny Enloe finished with 30-03.00 and Skylar West finished with 29-00.00.
For the girls, Kiara Donnell, Jade Halvensleben and Bridget Olig all ran in the 55-Meter Dash preliminaries, but did not make it into the finals.
Kiara Donnell ran in the girls 200-Meter Dash, and finished with a time of 32.71. Emily Flick finished with a time of 33.41.
The team of Kiara Donnell, Kati Way, Bridget Olig and Jade Halvensleben ran in the 4x200-Meter Relay, finishing with a time of 2:09.43.
Emily Flick had an eighth place finish in the girls High Jump event, with 4-05.00.
Kati Way placed first in the girls Pole Vault event, with 8-00.00.
Jade Halvensleben finished with 12-09.00 in the girls Long Jump. Teammage Sydney Stecha finished with 11-07.00.
In the girls Triple Jump event, Jade Halvensleben finished with 28-01.00, while teammate Sydney Stecha finished with 24-01.00.
Haiden Zimmerman finished with 25-11.00 in the girls Shot Put event. Haley Reeson finished with 22-04.00.
Coach Willy Johnson had this to say, “This meet gave our younger kids an opportunity to get some races and events in to give them a baseline. Overall the kids did a great job and we know what we need to work on to get to where we want to be in May. “
Sugar River will host the Raider Quad on Tuesday, April 5th. The meet begins at 4:15 p.m.
