Monroe Arts Center (MAC) announces another exciting exhibit to be on display in Frehner Gallery from March 11 through April 22.  The exhibit "Seasons of the Sugar River: Metamorphosis" showcases a variety of media and subject matter all relating to the changing forms of the natural world at the scale of organisms and landscapes in the entire Sugar River Watershed; from its headwaters in western Dane County to its confluence with the Pecatonica River in northern Illinois.

This exhibition is the result of an open call for artists to enter artwork in the Lower Sugar River Watershed Association's (LSRWA) third annual juried exhibition.  In keeping with the theme "metamorphosis," artists were invited to explore and to create works inspired by the biological, zoological, seasonal, and cultural transformation evidenced in the watershed.

A highlight of the opening event will be a poster and film exhibit in MAC's Wesley Hall showcasing the work of LSRWA Citizen Science volunteers.  The public is invited to ask questions of the volunteers and students who are mapping and measuring ecosystem health and water quality throughout the watershed, and undertaking ambitious projects to restore their local streams.
