DELLA B. BEIL

Della B. Beil passed away surrounded by loving family at her home on February 13, 2016. Della was born to Gustave A. and Anna C. (Roeck) Stoelting on February 10, 1921.

She grew up in Kiel, Wisconsin, and graduated from Kiel High School in 1939, and then attended Milwaukee State Teachers College (now UWM) and graduated in 1943 with a teaching degree and an art minor. She then taught kindergarten in Waupan, WI, for 2 1/2 years until her marriage to Howard E. Beil on December 27, 1945. The newlyweds moved to Maquoketa, Iowa, for Howard's first pastorate in 1946. Howard and Della then accepted a call to pastor First United Church of Christ in Belleville and Zwingli United Church of Christ-Paoli and moved there in February 1953. Della was very involved as a minister's wife, teaching Sunday school, directing the choir many years, playing the organ, and singing for weddings and funerals. She also was a member of the women's guild and open bible study class. Della resumed teaching full-time at the urging of C.H. Hageman in the early 70s and retired in 1986. She enjoyed many years making art projects and very intricate painting on Howard's woodworking crafts. She also made many beautiful afghans and other knitted and crocheted items. She continued as a member of the First United Church of Christ after Howard's retirement and was a member there for a total of 63 years.

She is survived by sons, Paul (Phyllis) Beil, Steve (Joan) Beil, and John (Lori) Beil; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Howard E. Beil; her parents; and brothers, Gustave J. Stoelting and Hermon O. Stoelting.
