Monticello Lions and Lioness Clubs Promote Diabetes Awareness Month
According to the CDC, almost 29.1 million people in the United States have diabetes, or 9.3% of the population! While an estimated 21 million have been diagnosed, unfortunately, one-fourth are unaware they have this disease. The estimated total of direct and indirect costs for this disease is $245 billion.
Diabetes Alert Day, sponsored by the American Diabetes Association, is held on the fourth Tuesday in March. It is a one-day “wake-up call,” asking the American public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. This disease is...
