Grapplers Have Successful Weekend

 


Sugar River hosted Verona on January 29th, and won with a score of Sugar River 42, Verona 41.

Results are as follows: Tyler Varney (152 lbs) over Ryan Weiss. Reagan Stauffer over Kyle Sparr (160 lbs). Dom Sabbraese over Calvin Binger (170 lbs). Tanner Jelle (182 lbs) over Jeremy Grimm. Trent Siegenthaler (195 lbs) won by forfeit. Garrison Stauffer over Daniel Enloe (220 lbs). Jonah Thompson (285 lbs) over Jordan Recob. Justin Knoebl (113 lbs) over Zakh Kalifatadi. Max Gerner (120 lbs) over Jonathan Herbst. John Chenoweth (126 lbs) over Nathan Feller. Brandon Daniels over Jack Dietrich (138 lbs). Egill Hegge over Hayden Latsch (145 lbs).

On Saturday, Sugar River competed in the Wisconsin Dells Invitational.

Justin Knoebl won over Messi Elgin of Homestead in the first round. Knoebl lost in the second round to Tyler Finnell of North Crawford/Senaca. Knoebl won the third round by decision over Charlie Ward of East Troy. In the third place match, Knoebl fell to Christian Jacobsen of Grand Meadown/Le Roy-Ostrander/Kingsland. Justin Knoebl (12-11) placed 4th and scored 12 team points.

Max Gerner received a bye for his first round, and lost to Chase Bergeron of Chippewa Falls in round two. Gerner won by decision over Alec Pham of La Crosse Aquinas in round three and in the third place match lost to Maverick Platt of Wisconsin Dells. Max Gerner (16-13) placed 4th and scored 8 team points.

John Chenoweth won by fall in the first round over Brice Scholtus of Homestead. In round two Chenoweth won by major decision over Nick Logan of Watertown. In the first place match, Chenoweth fell to Zachary Marek of Waunakee. John Chenoweth (23-9) placed 2nd and scored 19 team points.

Jack Dietrich lost by major decision to Ben Kasten of Brillion in round one. Dietrich won round two by fall over Orion Starkey of North Crawford/Senaca. In round three, Dietrich lost by major decision to Nathan Logan of Watertown. In the fifth place match, Dietrich won by decision over Matt Pomietlo of Chippewa Falls. Jack Dietrich (5-9) placed 5th and scored 8 team points.

Hayden Latsch lost in his first round by major decision to Jordon Roth of Brillion. In round two, Latsch won by decision over Isaac Eissinger of Grand Meadown/Le Roy-Ostrander/Kingsland. Latsch lost round three to Austin Schrei of Berlin and lost the fifth place match to Mason Weber of Wisconsin Dells. Hayden Latsch (7-20) placed 6th and scored 4 team points.

Tyler Varney lost round one to Mike Stout ofGrand Meadown/Le Roy-Ostrander/Kingsland and lost by fall in round two to TJ Sprosty of North Crawford/Senaca. Tyler Varney is 11-16.

Calvin Binger lost by fall to Travis Cadman of East Troy in round one and in round two he lost by fall to Skyler Britt of North Crawford/Senaca. Calvin Binger is 8-15.

Tanner Jelle won by fall in the first round over Brandon Fuhrmann of Brillion. In round two, he lost to Christophor Bain of Grand Meadown/Le Roy-Ostrander/Kingsland. Jelle won round three over Kenny Spencer of North Crawford/Senaca. Jelle fell to Reed Ryan of Waunakee in round four. Tanner Jelle (8-11) scored 5 team points.

Trent Siegenthaler won round one by fall over Michael Schears of Homestead. Siegenthaler lost by fall to Jeremy Heller of Grand Meadown/Le Roy-Ostrander/Kingsland in round two. In round three, Siegenthaler won by fall over Taylor Jarzynski of Wisconsin Dells. In the third place match, Siegenthaler lost by fall to Trevor Statz of Waunakee. Trent Siegenthaler (18-8) placed 4th and scored 14 team points.

Daniel Enloe won by tech fall over Derek Schmidt of Brillion in round one. Enloe lost by fall to Zach Wilson of Berlin in round two. Round three saw Enloe fall to Alex Nachtigall of Watertown. In the fifth place match, Enloe won by fall over Derek Schmidt of Brillion. Daniel Enloe (9-10) placed 5th and scored 10.50 team points.

Jonah Thompson won the first round by fall over Jesse Priest of Brillion. Thompson won round two by fall over Sawyer Lubes of Chippewa Falls. In round three, Thompson lost by decision to Alan Olkowski of Waunakee. Jonah Thompson (11-10) placed 2nd and scored 16 team points.
