Youth Hockey Update
PeeWee A Splits Weekend
The Avalanche PeeWee A took on Oregon PeeWee A on their ice January 16. The Avalanche came out strong with two goals in the first period to Oregon’s one. Tessa Janecke, assisted by Roman Bauer, lit the lamp first, followed by a goal from Alvin Buholzer, assisted by Tessa Janecke. The Avalanche kept control in the second period with three more goals to Oregon’s one. Scoring were Tessa Janecke and two from Blaze Janecke. Earning assists were Alyssa Knauf (2), Hayden Roth, and Sarah Edler. The Avalanche kept Oregon at bay with Hayden Roth scoring two more times defeating Oregon 7-3. Goaltender Jack Leverton recorded 25 saves.
On January 17, the Avalanche PeeWee A hosted Shaw PeeWee A. Tessa Janecke opened the game, scoring with a breakaway goal. Shaw responded with two goals in the first period. Near the top of the second period, Shaw scored a goal. Alyssa Knauf, assisted by Tessa Janecke, scored an Avalanche goal in a battle around the net. Both teams played tough and it was a back and forth battle in the third period, but the Avalanche fell to Shaw 3-2. Strong in net, Goaltender Jack Leverton recorded 26 saves.
Bantam A Wins One, Ties One
The Avalanche Bantam traveled to Oregon on January 16. Oregon got on the board first, but the Avalanche fought and scored with 15 seconds left of the first period with a goal by Travis Edmunds, assisted by Payton Stauffacher. The Avalanche took the lead in the second period with a goal by Cade Janecke, assisted by Payton Stauffacher. The third period was a tough battle between the two teams. Oregon took a 3-2 lead early in the third period. Payton Stauffacher found the back of the net, assisted by Cade Janecke and Hayden Roth, to tie the game. The game became more intense as more penalties occurred. Oregon scored with minutes left. The Avalanche fought hard, and with :52 on the clock, Payton Stauffacher fired one in from the blue line. The game ended in a 4-4 tie. Goaltender Heath Bear recorded 27 saves.
On January 17, the Avalanche Bantam A team hosted Stoughton Vikings Bantam A. The Avalanche dominated the entire game and put up five goals before the Vikings got on the board at the end of the second period. Scoring for the Avalanche were Cade Janecke (2), Tessa Janecke (4), and Luke Kuberski (1). Earning assists were Luke Kuberski (2), Travis Edmunds, Payton Stauffacher (2), Cade Janecke (playmaker), and Hayden Roth (2).
