Tax Assistance Available
Volunteer Tax Aide counselors trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service will provide one-on-one assistance helping older, low to moderate income individuals complete their tax returns. There is no age restriction. We will be taking appointments by phone.
This includes forms 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ, Schedule A, B, C-EZ, and D, and the Wisconsin Forms 1, 1A, WI-Z and the Homestead Credit Claim. Counselors can also determine whether or not individuals have a filing requirement, or are eligible for earned income credit, credit for the elderly, or any other credits that would be applicable.
Persons using this service should bring copies of their previous year’s tax returns, as well as their W2s, 1099 forms, a Photo ID, Social Security Card and other relevant materials for the current year. If filing a Homestead Credit Claim, 2015 property tax bills and/or rent certificates are also needed. Please note, you need to bring health insurance coverage for the taxpayer, spouse and all dependents.
In Green County, AARP volunteers are trained and available to help you with tax form completion. This service is free of charge and will begin in February. AARP has tried to make outreach accessible to everyone.
