Burreson's Foods Invests in the Future of Grocery Shopping in Belleville

With the focus on the customer’s shopping experience, Burreson’s Foods incorporates the Fetch app, a free smartphone app that delivers the cheapest, most convenient and most fun shopping experience.

“Fetch aims to improve the in-store buying experience by helping shoppers find discounts, make lists and easily pay at the checkout,” said owner Darin Burreson. “If shoppers don’t have a smartphone, we have tablets that they can use and all staff are fully trained in using Fetch.”

After downloading the app, shoppers scan items with their smartphones as they walk through the grocery store. The app keeps track of the cost and offers shoppers coupons, deals and free items based on what is scanned. Fetch users also can earn rewards points through company sponsors.

Customers press ‘checkout’ on their smartphone and it sends the information to the cashier, who has a Fetch Rewards tablet. While bagging the groceries, the cashier goes through the list on the tablet to ensure all of the items in the provided bag have been scanned on the shopper’s smartphone.

Store Manager Corisa Cook is excited for customers to realize the savings, both in money and in time, with the Fetch app.

“Grocery shoppers will benefit from spending less on groceries, less time spent in the checkout line and acquire points for free groceries,” said Cook. “We want to enhance the shopper’s experience.”

The Fetch app, released in October of 2013, was created by Wes Schroll and Dan Litvak, students at the UW-Madison.

“It’s a great way for customers to achieve a lower grocery bill every time that they shop at Burreson’s Foods,” added Burreson, who opened the doors in 2010 and formerly owned Burreson’s Foods in Blanchardville.

Shoppers at Burreson’s Foods in Belleville can look forward to using the Fetch app and other added shopping experiences in the near future.

“I want to continue building the shopping experience at Burreson’s Foods and investing in the community,” said Burreson. “Residents appreciate the availability of quality groceries and buying local.”
