Viola L. Butts-Nebels

Viola L. Butts-Nevels, age 84 of Belleville, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville. She was born on the family farm in the Town of Montrose to her parents, Julian and Emily (O'Brien) Viney on August 8, 1931.

Viola graduated from Belleville High School in 1950 and then graduated from Green County Normal Teacher's College in Monroe. On June 22, 1957, she was united in marriage to Francis A. Butts at the St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Belleville. After Francis passed away, Viola married Willard Nevels in 1999. She started teaching at the Spring Valley and Schaller Country Schools and then taught for Dane County Special Education for 13 years. She concluded her teaching career in the Belleville School District, from where she retired in 1993. Viola also worked as a waitress at Zentner's Restaurant and the Milk Pail in Belleville for over 40 years. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belleville and the Belleville Senior Citizens. When Viola lived at her apartment, she was very appreciative of the assistance of Bill Butts who helped care for her special puppy, Dolly. During her time at Heartsong she loved to sing and yodel along with Andy while he played his country music. Viola loved her family with all her heart; she was always ready to give of herself and expected nothing in return. She will be missed greatly by her family.
