Operation Migration Whooping Cranes Depart at Sunrise from Rural New Glarus
On Sunday morning the Whooping Cranes from Operation Migration departed the New Glarus Area. Approximately 60 people were on CTH NN shortly after dawn to watch the cranes and the ultralight fly over. Operation Migration has played a lead role in the reintroduction of endangered Whooping Cranes into eastern North America since 2001. In the 1940s the species was reduced to just 15 birds.
