Glarner Knights Defeat Wildcats in Capitol Conference South Rematch
In a Capitol Conference South volleyball showdown, the Belleville Wildcats took on the New Glarus Glarner Knights at home. The Wildcats were looking to avenge their loss from earlier this season, but we unable to top the Knights, losing 25-14, 25-20, 25-20.
Leading the way for the Knights was Maddie Macht with 13 kills and 10 digs. Julia Barnaby pitched in six kills and three blocks. Devon Boll, Haley Reeson, and McKinley Righter all tallied one block each. Vanessa Narveson earned 19 digs, and teammate Alex Nealis had 28 assists.
"A win against Belleville is always a big one because of the rivalry. The girls held strong and pulled out three wins right away," said New Glarus Head Coach Kelsey Schmit. "We have some work to do on consistency and always having a high level of play, but overall, I'm happy with the performance."
On the other side, Grace Schulting led the way for the Wildcats with five kills and 19 digs.
Lucy Grady had a strong performance with one block, three aces, and six assists.
Krista Diaz had three kills, and Lauren O'Connor amassed two blocks. Alli Kowalski earned eight assists while Ryley Helwig had nine digs.
"At the start of each match, we talk about the fact that every team is beatable. In the match against New Glarus, the girls played well together with lots of energy but were unable to finish with a win," explained Belleville Head Coach Jill Haag. "We continue to focus on aggressively attacking the ball at the net and decreasing the number of mistakes we are making on the court in order to earn our first conference win."
