Genealogy: Free Lineage Workshop Open to Public
Saturday, October 24, 2015
Interested in genealogy? Want to know more about your ancestors? Not sure where to start? Stuck on a family mystery? Would you like to find proof of Grandma’s stories?
The Colonel Benjamin Harrison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is hosting a Lineage Workshop at the Monroe Public Library on Saturday, October 24, 2015, from Noon to 3:00 p.m., in the upstairs meeting room. This free event is open to the public. A genealogy expert of the Daughters of the Revolution will be on hand to provide instruction and assistance with the latest in genealogy research information and tools. Members of the local Chapter of the DAR will be present to answer questions about joining this longstanding women’s service organization, and share lineage research tips they’ve learned along the way.
The DAR is celebrating its 125th year of service to the country. The organization focuses effort on Historical Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. Membership is open to women 18 and older that can prove a direct lineal descent from someone that supported the Americans during the Revolutionary War. The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is an organization for men.
