Participants on the trip included (L-R): Maddie Knox, Sean O'Connor, Celia Carr, Mitch Young, Taylor Kenkel, Jessica Hutter, Meredith Smith, Paige Natzke and Tamara Houser.

Seven students and two teachers from Belleville spent six days and five nights in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

They all appreciated the peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle that electricity and the Internet create for us on a daily basis. During their time away, they portaged their equipment and food close to six miles and canoed about 25 miles. Mostly, they canoed against the wind.

The group saw bears, moose, eagles, loons, otters, and other small critters. They enjoyed some gorgeous sunsets and some fun swimming at some beautiful campsites. Stories, songs, and memories were created at all four of their campsites.
