One-to-One Technology Plan Introduced for School Year

With the anticipation of a new school year growing, the School District of Belleville is excited to introduce the One-to-One Technology Plan for the 2015-2016 school year.

The One-to-One Technology Plan opens doors for students to discover new information, become more engaged as learners in a world-wide community, and achieve success throughout their educational journey.

Mobile devices offer learners the ability to discover information otherwise unavailable.

Mobile devices capitalize on the convergence of academic resources such as textbooks, scholarly sources, and content rich media.  Access to this information allows learners to use mobile devices as a personal learning studio that acts as a science lab, literacy tool, research station, history archive, language lab, art canvas, video editing suite, and library. The One-to-One Technology Plan also hopes to inspire learners to strengthen their engagement in learning.  As educators, we do not want to see learning merely contained within the classroom walls.  Mobile devices offer students an “anywhere, anytime” learning tool with the hope that students take their learning home and into the community.

As we progress with personalized learning, mobile devices will become an important instrument of learning.

Our number one goal with implementing the One-to-One Technology Plan is to ensure that each learner achieves success throughout their educational journey.

We believe the use of mobile devices will increase students’ productivity in and outside the classroom.  This type of technology, along with support from teachers, parents/guardians, and the community will set each student up for success.

As we begin to implement this new program, each student will have access to a mobile device.  Students in the high school will receive a Chromebook, which they may take home with them each night.

Students in grades two through eight will have an assigned Chromebook that will stay at the school, and our 4k through first graders will have access to either an iPad or Chromebook throughout each day.  The district will have a table set up at registration where parents can turn it completed consent forms and learn more about this exciting program.

Throughout education, the use of technology has steadily grown.  As a district that strives to provide all students with quality, personalized learning that prepares them to meet current and future challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, the One to One Technology program will give our students the skills needed to succeed.
