Raiders Participate in Fond du Lac Tournament
On May 9th, the Sugar River Raiders participated in the Fond du Lac High School Tournament. Traveling to the tournament provided the team with the opportunity to play soccer against Division 1 competition as they prepare to defend the Capital Conference Title and the start of Regional games the first week of June. The Raiders high level of play keeps them ranked at #4 in Division 3 State Polls, with a record of 11-2-1.
The first game had the Raiders facing the Vikings from Winnebago Lutheran Academy. The tall, physical team for the Vikings was no match for the speed and passing of the Raiders. Scoring for the Raiders were Vanessa Narveson with two goals, Abbi Lahey scoring with a header off a corner kick by Nicole Sanders and Aimee Sies adding the final goal. The Vikings were able to find the net for a score in the second half but the Raiders were victorious. Final: Sugar River 4, Winnebago Lutheran 1.
