Megan Dyrhaug, Roxana Gruenwald, Noelle Brummel and Jack Nolden were winners in the Yahara River Writers Contest.

Ten Belleville students are Top Ten winners in this year's Yahara River Writers Contest. Sponsored by the Greater Dane County Advanced Learners Network, the annual Yahara River Writers Contest encourages Dane County students in grades 5-8 to create poems, editorials, short stories, and cartoons.

Forty-three Belleville students from grades 5-8 were district submissions to this contest, along with over 2,000 submissions from 26 other Dane County and area districts.

A total of 160 Top Ten winners have been invited to the Yahara Writers Workshop and Awards Ceremony at the UW-Madison on May 13. At the ceremony, each student will receive an award and a copy of the 2015 Yahara River Writers Anthology, which includes all the Top Ten winning entries.

This year, Belleville had more winners than any of the other 19 schools with winning submissions, except two very large D1 schools and a K-12 private school. Area schools competing included Mount Horeb, Oregon, Verona, Eagle School, Evansville, Cambridge, McFarland, Monona Grove and Waunakee, to name a few.
