Dedications Scheduled for Veterans Park

The New Glarus Veterans Memorial Park Board is dedicating five more benches on Memorial Day, Monday May 25, 2015. Fundraising is complete for the benches.
Fundraising has started for the Gulf War I/Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial Marker. New Glarus Lions kicked off the fundraising with a $2,000 donation. Please consider donating for this last marker. We are also refining the list of names for this marker, please contact a Board member to confirm names.
Last fall, we received a very generous gift from Rosie Horan Elmer, in memory of her husband Keith Elmer, a Korean War Veteran. Her donation funded landscaping around the Veterans Memorial site. Work that was completed is the concrete sidewalk around the Memorial Markers; re-laying the bricks; improving the drainage; and some general beautification landscaping. Herman Pfund donated toward the gravel and concrete work.
We thank all the donors of the previous improvements to the Memorial Park such as the Entrance Marker; Flagpoles; World War II Marker; Korean War/War of 1812/Spanish American War/Civil War; Vietnam/World War I; and benches.
In kind donations of material and time are: New Glarus Concrete – Bob Pernot; Naval Reserve Center – Madison; Patrick McGowan – Architect; News Publishing Inc; Bard Materials; American Legion Auxiliary; J and R Underground; Sullivan Landscaping; and Tyvand Landscaping – Scott Jelle, Trevor Moen and Todd Ruegsegger.
Donations should be made out to New Glarus Veterans Memorial Park Fund. All donations of any size are welcome from any group, individual, or organization. Please mail to PO Box 354, New Glarus, WI 53574. The New Glarus Veteran’s Memorial Park is part of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin and therefore is a 501c3 and all contributions are tax deductible.
