Knights Fall in Doubleheader to Marshall

 


On Saturday, April 18, the New Glarus baseball team faced Marshall in a doubleheader on the road.

New Glarus lost the first game 8-2 and the second game 12-3.

Pitching on the mound the first game for the Knights was Koner French who went five innings with eight hits, eight runs, eight earned runs, five walks, and eight strikeouts. Andrew Nimtz hurled the last inning totaling one hit and one strikeout.

Offensively, John Chenoweth was one for three while French had one run. Jared Carney was one for two with one run, and Nimtz was one for two with one RBI.

In the second game, John Chenoweth went one for three with two RBIs, and Gavin Binger was one for one with one run. Dalton Way was one for two, and Brandon Winder and Nimtz each had a run.

Hurling the ball for the Knights the first four innings was Carney who amassed 11 hits, six runs, four earned runs, three walks, and five strikeouts. In the last three innings, Nimtz pitched seven hits, six runs, four earned runs, and one walk.

Earlier that week on Friday, April 17, the Knights matched up against Mauston at home. In a close game, New Glarus was defeated 3-2.

Pitching the loss for the Knights was Chenoweth who was on the mound all seven innings. He had eight gave up eight hits, three runs, one earned run, and three walks.

Offensively, Austin Schlueter was two for four, and Chenoweth was one for three with one RBI. Carney had one run, Hayden Latsch went one for three, and Nimtz was one for two with one run.

On Tuesday, April 14, the Knights played Luther Prep on the road where they were blanked by the Phoenix.

Pitching the first five innings was Carney; he gave up eight hits, five runs, four earned runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. Binger closed the game with four hits, five runs, two earned runs, two walks, and three strikeouts.

The only hit of the night for the Knights was by Binger who was one for two.
