Belleville Students Participate in Math 24 Competition
Fifteen Belleville Intermediate students and six Belleville Middle School students competed in the Math 24 competition at Union South in Madison in March. The event is sponsored by the Greater Dane County Advanced Learner Network. Math 24 tournaments are based on the Math 24 card games produced by Suntex. Work with the game fosters basic facts, mental math, problem solving, and patterning.
This year the Belleville District had one team in fourth grade and two teams each in fifth and sixth grade.
In the fourth grade contest, Alison Z. placed third overall and was Belleville's high scorer for fourth grade; Devin G. placed fourth overall for fourth grade in the contest. They each received a trophy for their placements.
The top Belleville scorer on the Belleville fifth grade team was Lauren Bartels, and Emma Anson was the top scorer for the Belleville sixth grade team.
The Belleville Middle School had one Math 24 team in both seventh and eighth grades. Ellie G. was Belleville's top scorer in seventh grade as was Joshua B. in eighth grade. Joshua also received a trophy for placing third overall in the eighth grade contest.
Congratulations to all participants!
