New Glarus Area EMS to Hold 40th Anniversary Open House

On Saturday, April 11th, the New Glarus Area Emergency Service will celebrate its 40th Anniversary with an Open House from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Open House will be held at the New Glarus Area EMS station at 401 3rd Street, New Glarus. The REACT helicopter will be at the Open House from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (pending weather or emergencies). Refreshments, including brats, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available.
From the service’s beginning when patients were transported in a station wagon, to the current two EMS rigs, the New Glarus Area EMS is on the front line of the healthcare industry. Members of the New Glarus Area EMS are not simply “ambulance drivers”, but highly trained volunteers who spend many hours learning the best way to care for their patients. From the initial education to become an EMT-Basic through on-going advanced training, the volunteers are hard-working and dedicated to helping their patients as well as getting them to the hospital safely. These dedicated volunteers even make a difference during their non-emergency calls.
This Open House is a chance to meet your local Emergency Medical Technicians and Drivers and to learn about the NGAEMS as well as thank them for their service. After all, life-saving maneuvers may not be used every day by the individual volunteers; however the compassion and caring that they show to their patients and the help that they provide on every call should be recognized.
Also on hand for the Open House and Anniversary celebration will be members of the New Glarus Fire Department, New Glarus Police Department, Monroe Clinic Hospital Staff, UW Hospital Staff, and St. Mary’s Hospital Staff. Members of the UW Organ Procurement Team as well as organ donors and donor recipients will also be there.
There will be a certified technician to answer questions and check child safety seats.
The Green Green County Canine Unit will also be giving a demonstration.
