Aluminum Overcast nose art. While never officially sanctioned by the military, the brass allowed the crews to do nose art on their planes, as a morale booster. Often times the nose are was a young pin up. In some cases the pilots and crew members would send home to their wives and girlfriends photos of their planes. And, on numerous occasions, the wives and girlfriends were somewhat less than pleased with the art their favorite guys chose for the artwork. Books on nose art are quite popular sales items at aircraft shows.
