Each year, the Green County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Committee selects one youth to receive the Dairy Sportsmanship Award at the Green County Fair. The Dairy Sportsmanship Award is presented to an outstanding Senior Dairy Exhibitor who has demonstrated strong sportsmanship in and outside of the show ring, enthusiasm for the project, a willingness to help others, and a strong commitment to the youth dairy project. This award is based on an exhibitor's entire career of exhibiting dairy at the Green County Fair and is chosen by the Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Committee. Only dairy exhibitors who have not previously participated in the Dairy Youth Auction are eligible to receive this award.

This year's winning recipient is Lindsey Pence, daughter of Brian and Donna Pence. Lindsey was a member of the Washington Center 4-H Club and the Monticello FFA. She has showed her neighbor's Al-ickx Holsteins dairy for over nine years, and has exhibited at the Green County Fair, Green County Dairy Days, and the Wisconsin State Fair. She has participated in Dairy Judging teams, was the 2017-2018 Monticello Dairy Queen and helped with a Yodelay Yogurt Dairy Promotion.

Lindsey was recently notified of being awarded this honor and responded by saying, "While I was in the dairy project, I learned the true meaning of hard work through the dairy industry. It's not about the size of the trophy or the color of the ribbon when you are showing, but the lessons learned. Learning to overcome obstacles and building yourself up is what's important."

Lindsey is currently attending UW-Stevens Point majoring in Soil and Land Management. Congratulations to Lindsey on achieving this accomplishment!
