On July 31, 2020, at approximately 8:17 p.m., while a New Glarus officer was working a State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation Seatbelt Enforcement Traffic detail in the 1200 block of STH 69, they observed James Frion, 43, Argyle, drive past them without having his seatbelt fastened. Frion was subsequently stopped for not wearing a seatbelt. After the initial contact was made, the officer returned to their squad to begin the paper work. While doing so, Frion exited his car and began to run away from the officer. The officer engaged Frion in a foot pursuit and was able to apprehend Frion behind a nearby apartment complex.

During the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, it was determined that Frion had been drinking intoxicants and his ability to operate a motor vehicle, along with decision making, was impaired. He was subsequently placed under arrest for his 6th offense of OMVWI. Wisconsin Department of Transportation records indicate that Frion had five prior convictions for OMVWI.

Frion was taken to the Monroe Hospital Emergency Room for a legal blood draw and then to the Green County Jail, where he was booked into and is currently being held on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under The Influence of Intoxicants 6th offense, Possess Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle as a driver, Violation of Seatbelt, and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.

Frion had a valid driver's license at the time of his arrest.
