Lady Wildcats Win Nail-Biter at New Glarus

Belleville's Jenna Shrader drives past Morgan Hustad of New Glarus during Belleville's win on January 3rd. Shrader was the leading scorer for the Lady Wildcats, putting 19 points on the board.

The Highway 69 rivalry continued between the Lady Wildcats and Lady Knights on January 3rd as they battled it out in New Glarus. The halftime score was Belleville 27, New Glarus 25. New Glarus worked hard in the second half but could not overcome that 2-point deficit and lost the game, 60-62.

"I was proud of the girls overall effort. They worked together and played hard throughout the entire game," said New Glarus Coach Kim Burton. "We just needed to do a better job of boxing out."

Jenna Shrader led the way for Belleville, with 19 points, while Rachael Heittola scored 18 points and Jade Halvensleben scored 12 points.

For New Glarus, Jaylynn Benson scored 19 points, Lexi Krause scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds and 7 steals and Morgan Hustad scored 9 points and had 5 assists.

Belleville played at Wisconsin Heights on January 8th, and will host Marshall on January 11th and Argyle on January 14th. They are in first place in the Capitol South with a conference record of 2-0 and an overall record of 7-3.

New Glarus hosted Waterloo on January 8th, will play at Wisconsin Heights on January 11th and will host Platteville on January 14th. They have an overall record of 5-6 and a conference record of 0-2.
