The New Glarus/Monticello Knights hosted the Cambridge Blue Jays on Friday, October 13th, winning 40-13.

The Knights were first to score on a 3-yard run by Tanner Jelle. Late in the first, Zach Feller ran it in from 8 yards out to put the team up by 13. Jared Carney then ran it in from a yard out in the second. Cambridge scored with two minutes left in the second, and the halftime score was 19-6.

With a little more than eight minutes left in the third quarter, Cullen Brooks scored on a 43-yard pass from Jared Carney to put the Knights up by 20. Cambridge scored late in the third to try to mount a comeback, but the Knights shut them down in the fourth. Tanner Jelle ran it in from three yards out to make it a 20-point game once again and less than two minutes later Nathan Streiff intercepted a pass to run it in for a TD from 35 yards out.

Quarterback Jared Carney was 2-4 for 55 yards and one touchdown for New Glarus/Monticello. Zach Feller had 114 yards rushing on 16 carries and one touchdown and Tanner Jelle had 96 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns. Cullen Brooks had one reception for 43 yards and one touchdown.

As a whole, the defense recorded 60 tackles. Connor Siegenthaler and Jon Errthum both recorded a sack and Nathan Streiff and Wyatt Taylor each had one interception.

"Friday night was a special night, with it being Parent's Night and Senior Night," said Coach Jeff Eichelkraut. "The guys played hard and executed on a high level.  Cambridge is a good football team and this is a good way to lead into the WIAA play-offs."

The Knights end the regular season with a 3-1 conference record (6-3 overall). They will play at Prairie du Chien on October 20th, at 7:00 p.m.
