Sugar River Track and Field Team Members Compete at State Meet

The Sugar River track and field team had 11 people compete in seven events for Division II at the state track and field meet at UW-La Crosse on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6.
In the girls 100 high hurdles, sophomore Krista Diaz took sixth place with a time of 15.85; she earned first at sectionals at 15.54, first at regionals at 15.89, and third at conference with a time of 16.72.
Senior Ashley Clark tied for ninth place in the pole vault with a height of 10-00.00. At sectionals, she took fourth place at 9-06.00 while she placed fourth at regionals with 8-00.00, and she earned fifth place at conference with a height of 8-06.00.
Taking seventh place in the 3200 meter run was sophomore Noelle Maire with a time of 11:37.89. Maire took third place at sectionals at 11:25.65, second place at regionals with 11:30.02, and first place at conference with a time of 11:29.04.
Senior Colton Boley earned a sixth place finish in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 40.98; he placed first at sectionals with 40.07, first at regionals at 42.08, and first at conference with a time of 41.17.
Junior Landon Zimmerman placed fourth at state in the discus with a distance of 161-03; earlier in the season, he took third at sectionals with a throw of 163, first at regionals at 167-02, and first at conference with a throw of 162-02.
In the shot put, senior Mike Fink finished in eighth place with a throw of 51-01.75. He took third in sectionals at 50-02.25, second at regionals with a distance of 47-10.50, and first at conference with a throw of 50-06.50.
The boys 4x100 meter relay team of senior Brandon Shemanski, senior Ryan Hayes, junior Nick Smith, and sophomore Cade Martin finished in 11th place with a time of 44.17, besting their previous times. At sectionals, they took fourth with a time of 44.44 while they took first at regionals at 44.93 and first at conference with a time of 45.27. Freshman Dalton Fahey was an alternate for this race.
