Tschudy to be Featured Speaker at MAHS

Mr. Kim Tschudy, a life-long resident of Green County, avid historian and published author, will be the featured speaker for the April meeting of the Monticello Historical Society. The meeting will be held in the lounge at Zwingli UCC, 416 E. Lake Avenue, Monticello, Thursday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Tschudy's presentation will follow the meeting, at approximately 7:20 p.m.
Mr. Tschudy's topic will be "Ghost Towns of Southern Wisconsin." He has a PowerPoint presentation, and will be discussing, in words and pictures, communities that flourished and withered, such as Gratiot's Grove, Oil City, Voree, Turtleville, Seelyberg, and Uleo. He will also talk about some communities that were never built, such as Cheyenne Valley, Pleasant Ridge, and Frenchtown. The public is encouraged to attend, and admission is free. Questions and comments will be encouraged following the presentation.
Mr. Tschudy has published six books on historical topics; three on railroads, and three on Green County - Green County, Swiss of New Glarus, and New Glarus. He claims that he gets the most comments from one chapter out of his book Green County...the chapter entitled "Ghost Towns of Green County."
