The Sugar River Raiders soccer team won their sixth Capitol Conference Championship in a row last week.

The Sugar River Raiders have won their sixth Capitol Conference Championship in a row, after beating Cambridge 3-0 on Tuesday, October 11!

The night was extra special because it was also Senior Night. The Raiders honored the seniors before the game and during halftime for their dedication to the team and their efforts on and off the field. Thank you seniors! Once a Raider, always a Raider!

The Raiders started off strong early in the game as Reid Nolden scored on a Breckyn Thompson assist. The first half was dominated by the Raiders. They showcased their strong passing skills and great movement off the ball to put in a couple more goals! Aiden Hatleberg, a nominee for the Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week, made an impressive goal off a Brady Mousseau assist. This was followed up by the final goal scored by Eli Leonard - assisted by Aiden Hatleberg. Holding it all together was sophomore goalie, Clayton Streiff, who recorded 5 saves and shut out Cambridge.

After the impressive victory the Raiders celebrated with fans and rode downtown, escorted by a fire truck. It was truly a special night for the Raider nation. The Raiders have earned the number one seed in the post season and hope to continue their journey to state!

They will be playing the winner of Black River Falls/Melrose-Mindoro and Jefferson in the regional matchup on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Reddan Soccer Park in Verona. The game is set to start at 7:00 p.m. Come support the Raiders as they hope to win, one game at a time!
