Wildcats Continue Season Undefeated

The Belleville Wildcats varsity football team played at Mineral Point on September 30th. Leading 35-7 at the half, the Wildcats cruised to a 49-14 win over the Pointers.
The first half was scoreless but things heated up in the second when Belleville scored five times. The first TD was on a pass from Aidan Keyes to Logan Derke for 6 and Jake Fahey's extra point attempt was unsuccessful. Less than 2 minutes later, Keyes connected with Andrew Ace for 6 and again for the successful 2-point conversion to make it 14-0. Derke then ran it in from 34 yards out and Fahey's kick flew through the uprights for 7 more points. Keyes then hit Kaden DeSmet for 6 with Fahey's kick good. Mineral Point then returned the kickoff from that score for a TD of their own. With 15 seconds left in the half, Keyes hit Ace for 6 and Fahey's kick was good to go into halftime leading by 28.
The Pointers scored a touchdown in the third quarter, and the fourth was all Wildcats. Keyes connected with Ace for 6, with Fahey's kick successful and with a little over 6 minutes left, Keyes and DeSmet teamed up for 6 more, with Fahey's kick hitting the mark.
Aidan Keyes was 28 for 38, with 403 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Logan Derke led the Wildcats with 81 yards rushing on 17 attempts, while Landry Yarbough had 19 yards and Aidan Keyes had 10.
DeMarcus Conner led Belleville with 155 receiving yards, while Andrew Ace had 112 yards, Kaden DeSmet had 92 yards, Nate Meier had 23 yards and Logan Derke had 21 yards.
On defense, Jake Fahey had 5 tackles and 1 interception, while Landry Yarbough and Ryker Swenson had 4 tackles, Logan Derke had 3 tackles and Andrew Ace and DeMarcus Conner had 2 tackles apiece.
On October 7th, the Wildcats travel to Darlington, who is also undefeated this season. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
