UW MedFlight Training in New Glarus
August 18, 2022
On Monday, August 15, a UW MedFlight helicopter landed in Glarner Park for training with the New Glarus Fire Department, New Glarus Area EMS and New Glarus Police Department.
On their Facebook page, the New Glarus Fire Department said, "We would like to thank UW MedFlight for the valuable training tonight. We reviewed the request process, communications with the aircraft, landing zone criteria, landing zone security, and safety around the aircraft. We were also given the opportunity to practice a "hot load", where we assist the flight crew in loading the patient into the helicopter while it is running. This crew and aircraft is based in Iowa County. MedFlight also has bases in Madison and Portage. We would also like to thank members of New Glarus Area EMS and the New Glarus Police Department who attended the training and shared a meal with us. Always nice to share that time after a good training!!"
