Two Fire Suppression Tools have been donated to the New Glarus Police Department through the Acts of Kindness initiative of the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation in tandem with New Glarus Lodge #310.

These devices are the latest in fire suppression technology developed by the US and Israeli military. With pull-the-pin and toss technology, they can be tossed into a burning room, emitting an environmentally safe aerosol for 35 seconds. It's enough time to extinguish any fire in an enclosure up to 5,300 cubit feet. It is different than older models because it will not deplete the oxygen and is safe for humans and pets.

Many times the police department is the first to arrive at a fire scene. While the devices will not replace the fire department, they can save lives by reducing the temperature of a fire from 1,000 degrees to 200 degrees in 30 seconds, allowing fire fighters quicker access to the building.
