New 'Free Little Library'

Carolyn Seaver

Thanks to Joe Hesse of Madison, the library has its own Free Little Library.  Joe and friend, David Wallner, dug the hole, made concrete, and installed the post.  The library arrived Monday afternoon, November 2nd, with Joe doing the installing work and David supervising.  We cannot thank Joe enough for donating his labor and expertise.  Ours may be the first one in Monticello.  Thank heavens for the bike trail and our "Buck a Bag" Book Sale.  Joe stopped, bought three bags of books and asked if we wanted a Free Little Library.  Joe said he'd build it for the cost of materials.  David bought two bags and wrote a check toward the materials to construct it.

Joe and David are retired school teachers from the Stoughton school system.  They each have their own little libraries in Madison, where there are many neighborhood "Free Little Libraries."  We cannot thank Joe and David enough for their generosity to all of us at the library and in Monticello.  Stop by and take a look, take a book, and wait for us to refill the vacated space.
