Belleville CC Competes at Watertown

Belleville's Carter Scholey had a first place finish and the top spot for the Capitol South Conference at the Watertown Cross Country meet.

The Capitol Conference meet was held at Brand-Quirk Park in Watertown last Saturday and hosted by Watertown Luther Prep. Our conference, the Capitol South, consisted of Belleville, Waterloo, WI Heights/Barneveld, Deerfield/Cambridge, New Glarus/Monticello and Marshall.

Alora Spiegel was placed in 1st Team All-Conference with a 6th place finish and a time of 21:44. Well done Alora! Lainey Winkers came close to 2nd Team with a 15th place finish and a time of 23:30. Following on Varsity were Emily Gomez (26:25, season PR), Allison Dyrhaug (26:38, season PR), Ruby Gustafson (season PR of 27:52), Maddie Weber (28:00) and Lauren Bartels (also with a season PR of 28:27).

Alora Spiegel, a member of the Varsity Belleville Wildcats Girls Cross Country team, finished in sixth place at the Watertown meet.

Carter Scholey led the Boys Varsity with an overall first place finish and the top spot of Capitol South with a time of 16:48. He was followed by strong finishes from teammates Matt Loshaw (19:08), Angelo Dohm (19:09), Jordan Wilder (19:40), Aiden Campbell (19:55), Niles Monroe (19:56) and Blake Johnson (season PR of 21:07). The boys placed a strong 3rd place for our conference.

Boys JV was led by William Booth, who ran a season best with a time of 22:00 and an 8th place finish. William was followed by Carson Heller in 9th place with a time of 22:23. Rounding out the rest of the boys were Adrian Jenkins (23:11, a season PR), James Gustafson (25:36), Ben Remy (25:47), Will Gobel (27:08), Cole Monroe (32:59) and Keegan Dohm (35:21).

Always bittersweet for our JV team as this was their last meet, and especially our seniors who have put in so much hard work and dedication to the team all these years! We appreciate you!
